Extraction of a Bullet after Being Thirty-Seven Years in the Leg of a Man

Nanuck. a Mahomedan bliistie, aet. 60, was admitted into the Mayo Hospital on the 12th of December 1877, suffering from a sinus on the inner side of the left leg, just above the ankle. He states that when the Maharajah Shere Sing besieged the citadel of Lahore in 1841, he was employed as a bliistie near the west gate of Lahore, and one of the officers in the Sikh army directed him to bring some water for the soldiers. He accordingly filled his mussuck at a well outside the town, and was engaged in proceeding towards the fort, when he was struck on the left ankle by a bullet. He fell to the ground at once, and was afterwards removed to his home by some friends and remained there for five months, unable to walk ; but afterwards he gradually recovered with the exception of the sinus, which has continued open ever since, and discharges a small
